What is the Green Key eco-label?
The Clef Verte label appeared in France in 1998. France is the second country in the world to have developed the label. Green key, by its seniority and its number of certified establishments, is the first ecological label for tourist establishments.
Hotels, youth hostels, furnished lodgings, campsites, bed and breakfasts, tourist residences and restaurants, having acquired the Clef Verte label, are committed to a CSR approach on a daily basis and are evolving towards eco-responsible practices recommended by Clef Verte.
Green Key, a label from the Teragir association
Teragir is a non-profit association created in 1983, present in 77 countries, the association oversees 5 sustainable action programs including Clef Verte. Every day the association shows the importance of preserving the environment with its various programs and labels: Blue Flag, Eco-School, Green Key, International Day of Forests and Young Reporters for the Environment.
The Naéco eco-responsible approach
At Naéco we are proud to have obtained our Green Key label. This label represents all of Naéco's values: rational water and energy consumption, responsible and local waste management and purchasing, active awareness-raising among our customers and employees. It is a reward for our daily commitment to sustainable and virtuous tourism!
It is on a daily basis that Naéco is committed to good practices. With the Naéco#Responsables association, we have created a charter used and respected in our establishments for an eco-responsible stay in Brittany.
Naéco encourages sustainable tourism by offering its customers local products or even Breton hikes to discover the surrounding nature near our establishments. With our association, we organize waste collection on the beaches or even tastings with local producers. At Naéco, we believe that small individual actions lead to big changes.
Criteria for a Green Key establishment
The Green Key labeling criteria are established internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education. These criteria are reviewed every 4 years based on environmental issues and technological progress. However, each country has its own grid but it cannot be less demanding than that of the international standard and each modification must be approved by the international management.
Obtaining the Green Key label is a guarantee of seriousness, which testifies to an environmental approach by meeting more than a hundred criteria for the management of sustainable tourism, for tourist accommodation and restaurants.
An international label
Better known as “Green Key international” or “Green Key Global”, the Clef Verte label is present throughout the world: in 66 countries and at more than 3,200 sites.
It is essential that the Green Key label maintains the same graphic consistency internationally, so that travelers who come from a different country can recognize, through the logo, the tourist establishments committed to a sustainable approach.
The Clef Verte France team strives not to change more than 20% of the international criteria and the adaptations are only a reinforcement of the basic criteria. In addition, the international team regularly checks the structures of other countries to ensure compliance with commitments.
