What is Upgaarden?
Created in 2021 by Lorraine Le Baud, Upgaarden is a young urban and ecological greenhouse brand. Upgaarden greenhouses are strong, aesthetic and have the smallest carbon footprint on the market, thanks to the reuse of end-of-life joinery, collected, recut and transformed.
Thanks to the reuse of construction materials such as glass, exterior joinery, office partitions... Greenhouses have an almost zero carbon footprint. The manufacture of the frame greenhouse emits only 10kg of C02, the equivalent of 2 meals in a fast food restaurant or a journey of only 50 km by car! These emissions are 30 times lower than an equivalent new greenhouse.
The production of greenhouses
Upgaarden uses a unique manufacturing process, reusing exterior joinery from Breton buildings (former schools, libraries, offices and housing), which thus makes it possible to limit carbon emissions linked to manufacturing as much as possible, while reducing waste of construction.
That's not all, Upgaarden subtracts the manufacturing from a prison integration structure in Lorient and therefore contributes to the reintegration of prisoners. For them, it represents fifteen hours of insertion and it allows them to develop skills in wood and glass work. The ecological greenhouses of Upgaarden have the PePs label "Product in Prison.s"
Naéco supports Upgaarden in its ecological approach
At Naéco, we are very happy to have installed the very first ecological greenhouse in Upgaarden! We installed it in the garden of our offices in Carnac to promote the growth of our vegetable plants by taking advantage of the influence of the climate.
Strongly involved in a CSR approach, Naéco is happy to contribute to the development of Upgaarden because we share the same values.
Recently, Naéco hostels obtained the Green Key label, which represents a guarantee of seriousness and creating green spaces in companies is part of our commitments.
