1. Sea cruises and island discoveries

Summer is the perfect season to set sail and discover the small islands of the Breton coast. It is one of the most beautiful ways to enjoy the diversity of the Breton landscapes from the ocean.

Excursion to the island of Sein from Audierne

From Audierne, embark on a cruise to the Ile de Sein. This small, flat island, located in the far west, is a real jewel in the open sea. In summer, you can enjoy a beautiful sunny day to explore its charming alleys, typical houses and secluded coves. On foot or by bike, the island can be discovered quietly. It is also an excellent spot to observe the dolphins that like to accompany the boats!

Discovery of Groix from Lorient

Another gem to explore is the island of Groix, accessible by ferry from Lorient, a few kilometres from Le Pouldu. Once on the island, you can rent bicycles to explore its small paths, discover the convex beach of Grands Sables or relax in one of the many coves bordered by turquoise water.

Quiberon Bay Tour from Quiberon

From Quiberon, 30 minutes from Erdeven, boat trips also take you to discover the Ponan islands: Belle-île, Houat, Hoëdic. The island vibe is ideal for a day of total disconnection and the scenery is stunning.

2. On foot, at your own pace: Brittany in full size

The essence of Brittany is walking. It is slowly uncovered, according to the winds and tides.

  • The GR34, the mythical customs path, passes near the three hostels. Imagine a hike with a view of the ocean, the steep cliffs, the seabirds, the secret beaches... In Audierne, it takes you to the Pointe du Raz. From Le Pouldu, it winds between beaches, woods and moors. In Erdeven, he crosses the dunes and menhirs.
  • Themed hikes : heritage, nature, tales and legends tours... Discover mysterious dolmens, hidden chapels, solitary lighthouses. Another way to enter Breton history.

Naéco tip : ask at reception for our Naéco roadbooks for even more circuits.

3. Water activities: the call of the elements

What would a summer in Brittany be  without gliding or sailing? The sea is an inexhaustible playground:

  • Surfing and bodyboarding in La Torche, Plouhinec, Le Pouldu or Kerhillio : for beginners or experienced, the spots are numerous and supervised by committed local schools.
  • Stand up paddle & sea kayaking : paddle at sunset in the estuaries and estuaries, glide on translucent waters between the coves of Groix or on the Laïta, between forest and sea.
  • Sailing, catamaran, kitesurfing : the Breton winds are your allies. Learn to tame them on the beaches of Erdeven or off the coast of Quiberon.

Note : several Naéco partners offer preferential rates for residents, as well as introductory or advanced courses.

4. Horseback riding on the beach and horseback riding

Summer in Southern Brittany is also the ideal time to enjoy long horseback rides, especially on the vast beaches of Brittany. An activity that combines contact with nature and special moments.

Horseback riding on Kerhillio beach in Erdeven

Erdeven is famous for its endless beaches and wild dunes. In summer, you can take a horseback ride on the beach at sunset

Horseback riding in Le Pouldu

Le Pouldu also offers horseback riding in the forests and coastal paths, where you can discover Southern Brittany from a different perspective. These walks allow you to discover varied landscapes, between moors and wooded paths, all in a summery and relaxed atmosphere.

Naéco Tip : Why not try a multi-day equestrian trek along the coast?

5. Scuba diving and discovery of the seabed

In summer, the warmer Breton waters are perfect for scuba diving.

Diving in Audierne: a special activity

In Audierne, you can discover the wrecks that litter the seabed, vestiges of the many naval battles that took place along the Breton coast. Several diving clubs (Les Plongeurs du Cap) offer supervised outings, whether you are a beginner or an experienced diver. You may be lucky enough to come across rays, conger eels, and even grey seals!

Visits to Lorient: a little-known underwater world

A 30-minute drive from Naéco Le Pouldu or Naéco Erdeven, discover the Base des Sous-Marins in Lorient. This place brings together several museums to visit, for an original cultural activity don't miss: the Lorient Underwater Museum, the Flore-S645 submarine as well as the Block K3 (bunker dating from the Second World War).

During your summer in Morbihan, discover the seabed of the harbour and the surrounding area, learn rescue techniques at great depths, visit a submarine and bunkers dating from the Second World War.

6. Local festivals and festivals: the heart of the Breton summer

Summer in Brittany is also marked by a series of festivals and cultural events that celebrate music, dance, traditions and local products.

Festival du Bout du Monde in Crozon (near Audierne)

Not far from Audierne, every summer, the Festival du Bout du Monde welcomes artists from all over the world to the Crozon peninsula. It is one of the largest music festivals in Brittany, with a relaxed and warm atmosphere, where you can dance barefoot on the grass facing the sea.

Fest Noz and Breton festival at Le Pouldu

At Le Pouldu, the fest-noz (Breton night parties) are a real immersion in Breton culture. Dance to the sound of binious and bombards, share a bowl of cider, and let yourself be carried away by the legendary conviviality of these festive evenings that enliven the villages.

Erdeven and its night markets

In the summer, Erdeven also hosts night markets where you can taste local products while listening to Breton music. These are perfect times to stroll between the craft stalls, taste the local specialties, and meet the producers of the region.

7. Climbing and ziplining in the trees

Summer in Brittany is also an opportunity to try adventure activities in the middle of nature, and in particular in tree climbing parks and climbing sites.

Adventure park in Erdeven: Adrenaline Forest

For thrill seekers, tree climbing is a perfect activity in summer. In Carnac, an adventure park offers various courses suspended in the trees, with large zip lines. It is located 7 minutes by car from Naéco Erdeven.

Rock climbing in Audierne

Not far from Audierne, natural cliffs offer great spots for outdoor climbing. Supervised by professionals, you can try your hand at climbing, with stunning views of the ocean in the background.

A technical activity to practice during your summer in Finistère.

Tree climbing in Le Pouldu: Ty Nadan Aventure Parc

Want to play Tarzan in the heart of a Breton forest? Head to Ty Nadan Aventure Parc, in Locunolé, barely 25 minutes from Le Pouldu! Here, it's a life-size adventure: more than 12 courses in the trees, giant zip lines over the river, suspension bridges, moving nets and even courses for mini-climbers. Whether you're more of a daredevil or a leisurely stroll, there's plenty to enjoy. And for the more adventurous: continue with a canoe, mountain bike or buoy descent on the river. It is right next door.
